A Note From the Editor

Hello family. Thank you for being so understanding about the 20th's edition and my thumb injury. I have created an extra couple of articles to include in this week's edition to make up for the loss of news. Enjoy!

Sincerely, Quinn

Ohtani's Outstanding—Oh My Goodness!

On Friday, October 17th, we were pleased to discover the Dodgers won against the Brewers and will now be heading to the 2025 World Series! They are the previous World Series Champions and will hopefully be there for two years in a row. Trish and Steve even got seats in the suite room, watching at the real stadium as Ohtani struck out 10 Milwaukee Brewers and hit three homeruns. One was even… literally… OUT OF THE BALLPARK! The very ball that was hit is receiving offers of over a million dollars! Ohtani also received an award for being an outstanding player that game in the post season. Fingers crossed the Dodgers continue to shine and win the World Series!

The Radio Says So

You may be surprised at how much information you actually take in from the radio, but they tell you everything, from the upcoming weather to the breaking news. On 103.5 (KOST) I learned that the loneliest holiday for a single person is Halloween. While you may think Valentines' Day or Christmas is the answer, it's actually Halloween, with its couples' costumes and "plus one" parties galore.

But if you're single and ready to mingle, grab some friends and waltz on over, instead of holing yourself up in your room! Another thing I heard about was how a group of bandits dressed as construction workers broke into the Seine-side Louvre in Paris and stole Napoleon's crown jewels! A whopping 150 feet away from the Mona Lisa, the bandits escaped on scooters! The French police found one of the jewels broken and discarded on the ground near the crime scene. That's crazy, considering how much security there is in such a monumental location! Clearly, the radio can tell you some interesting things…

The Hunger Games (I'm Not Kidding, It's A Real Struggle!)

While a thing like the Hunger Games doesn't exist in real life, (and hopefully never will!), World Hunger and Homelessness are two very real things. Trish Scarborough, volunteer member of Families Forward, an organization for homeless families, is going to an event created by The Person in Front of You, another organization. The date is November 15th, so you can come and support the Person in Front of You campaign. If your are unable to go, there are always other ways to help:

Tag, or collaborate with @thepersoninfrontofyou, or @unitedtoendhomelessness

Use the hashtag, #ThePersonInFrontOfYou

Tag and give credit to @beholder_creative—the local designer who created a special Person in Front of You t-shirt

Happy Holidays

As the holidays draw nearer, you may be looking for places to find Halloween costumes, Thanksgiving decorations, and Christmas presents. I have many suggestions that will clear up your holiday headaches and the never-ending search of preparation that precedes a holiday!

As for Halloween, you can find costumes at Amazon, Target, and my favorite, the Halloween Boutique. It has the scariest costumes and decorations, but also lightens up and offers, cute, hysterical costumes for younger children, or people who don't like to be scared. If you're looking for candy, I have the perfect place for you: Target! It's like a mini grocery store. Nothing is cheap anymore, but at least with Target, it's easy. They offer pre-made mixtures of candy, ranging from M&Ms to king-size Twix bars! Don't put out Skittles, though. They are getting banned from the United States because of their Red Dye 40.

In the Thanksgiving season, you may be so focused on Christmas that you forget all about Thanksgiving. Or you may forget about Christmas presents while making a turkey and green beans! My top places for Christmas presents are Amazon, Target, 5 below (for cheaper ones), and any random stores you pop into that you think someone might like. And if all else fails, just buy 'em a gift card!

Fast-food Places & Fast Inflation

If you ask any kid where they would want to go to dinner, they would most likely say In'N'Out or Chick-fil-a. Why? My hypothesis is a mixture of good tastes, addiction, and peer pressure. Fast-food places like Raising Canes just have a general good taste, with French fries and junk food. Once you start eating, it's hard to stop. Not to mention its general expensiveness! Peer pressure may also have something to do with this. Because all of one's friends may like a certain place, one may start eating at that place all the time. Nevertheless, when picking a place to eat, pick the least expensive place!
